What is it?

Hemophilia is a genetic disorder where blood doesn't clot properly due to a deficiency in clotting factors, leading to excessive bleeding after injury or surgery. It most commonly affects males.

Sample Recipe: Spinach and Lentil Soup

  • Ingredients: Lentils, spinach, garlic, onions, olive oil, vegetable broth, spices (turmeric, cumin).

  • Directions: Sauté garlic and onions, add lentils and broth, cook until lentils are tender, and stir in spinach at the end.

What are the traditional treatments?

  • Factor replacement therapy: Clotting factor concentrates (such as Factor VIII or IX) are infused to help blood clot properly.

  • Desmopressin: Can help raise factor VIII levels in certain types of hemophilia.
