Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC)
What is it?
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is a type of breast cancer that starts in the lobules (milk-producing glands) of the breast and spreads to surrounding tissue. It accounts for around 10-15% of all breast cancer cases.

What are the symptoms?
A thickening or lump in the breast
Changes in breast shape or size
Unexplained nipple discharge
Skin dimpling
Pain or tenderness in the breast
What else could it be? (Differential diagnosis)
Fibrocystic changes
Benign breast lumps
Mastitis (breast infection)
Inflammatory breast disease
What are the aggravating factors?
Family history of breast cancer
Hormonal exposure, including early menstruation or late menopause
BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations
Age (risk increases with age)
What types of food are helpful?
Cruciferous vegetables: Like broccoli, kale, and cauliflower, which contain compounds that may have cancer-fighting properties.
Healthy fats: Omega-3 fatty acids (from fish and flaxseeds) to reduce inflammation.
Antioxidant-rich foods: Especially berries, citrus, and leafy greens.
Sample Recipe: Broccoli and Chickpea Salad
Ingredients: Broccoli, chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, lemon.
Directions: Steam broccoli and toss with cooked chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, and lemon for a fiber- and antioxidant-rich meal.
What are the traditional treatments?
Surgery: Removing the tumor or breast tissue (lumpectomy or mastectomy).
Radiation therapy: To destroy any remaining cancer cells after surgery.
Chemotherapy: To reduce the risk of cancer spreading or coming back.
Hormone therapy: For hormone receptor-positive cancer.
Targeted therapy: For HER2-positive cases.
What are the natural and alternative treatments?
Turmeric: Contains curcumin, which may help in preventing or managing cancer.
Green tea: Rich in polyphenols, which are thought to have anti-cancer effects.
Vitamin D: Studies show it may help reduce the recurrence of breast cancer.
