Tendonitis
What is it?
Tendonitis is the inflammation of a tendon, typically caused by repetitive movements or overuse. Common areas affected include the shoulders, elbows, wrists, and knees.

What are the symptoms?
Pain and tenderness around the affected tendon.
Swelling near the tendon.
Reduced range of motion or difficulty moving the affected joint.
What else could it be? (Differential diagnosis)
Tendinopathy: A general term for tendon injury, including both tendonitis and tendinosis.
Bursitis: Inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs near the joints, which can mimic tendonitis.
What are the aggravating factors?
Repetitive motion: Especially in sports or jobs that involve repetitive motions.
Aging: Tendons become less elastic as we age, increasing the risk.
Poor posture or technique: Can stress tendons and lead to inflammation.
What types of food are helpful?
Anti-inflammatory diet: Rich in omega-3 fatty acids (salmon, flaxseeds), antioxidants (berries, leafy greens), and vitamin C (citrus fruits).
Collagen and gelatin: From bone broth or supplements to support tendon repair.
What are the traditional treatments?
Rest and ice: To reduce inflammation and promote healing.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Such as ibuprofen, to reduce pain and inflammation.
Physical therapy: To strengthen the affected tendon and improve flexibility.
What are the natural and alternative treatments?
Turmeric: Has anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce pain.
Ginger: Another anti-inflammatory herb that can support tendon healing.
Epsom salt baths: For muscle relaxation and inflammation reduction.
